In 2018, the Society for Modern Art at the Museum Ludwig awarded Haegue Yang the Wolfgang Hahn Prize. With this exhibition—the artist’s first comprehensive retrospective worldwide—the Museum Ludwig showcases the diversity of her work through 120 pieces.

The abbreviation ETA stands for “Estimated Time of Arrival” and refers to the artist’s career in transit and her constant changes of location; she maintains studios in Seoul and Berlin and has been exhibiting internationally since 1994.

Through her multifaceted works, Haegue Yang succeeds in eluding any clear categorization. Her works are, on the one hand, institutionally critical, conceptual, and rooted in cultural-historical references, while at the same time being sensually complex and emotionally charged. The retrospective exhibition spans over 1,500 m² of floor space, with a spatial design that echoes the conceptual dynamics of the works.

235 MEDIA implemented the media installations and the rather unconventional lighting concepts and supplied the hardware.
