The exhibition “Headfirst into Art” by Museum Ostwall at Dortmunder U allows visitors to become part of the art itself. The audience shifts from passive viewers to active participants, engaging with all their senses in order to immerse themselves in the artwork. Physical interaction thus becomes an essential part of the artistic process.

Highlights of the exhibition include works by Joon Moon, whose installation “Chasing Stars in Shadow” (2021) tells a story about “shadow children” who move back and forth between 2D and 3D. Visitors are invited to free the children from the second dimension using a lantern and their own movements.

Equally impressive is the immersive space “Field” by Design I/O, where visitors can create plant worlds through movement and interaction. “Field” is a dynamic and constantly changing interactive ecosystem of flowing colour particles.

235 Media supported the artists throughout their process and provided the media technology for the installations.
