With “Sculptor of Time”, Museum La Boverie in Liège presents a major solo exhibition dedicated to the American artist Bill Viola.

In collaboration with Tempora and Bill Viola Studio, the museum presents the first Belgian exhibition of international significance to honour the work of the renowned video artist. Viola’s works are technically impressive, at once grand and intimate, complex yet surprisingly accessible, spectacular and deeply human. The sources of inspiration for his installations are diverse, rooted in Western and Eastern artistic traditions as well as various spiritual philosophies. They are permeated by a humanism of universal character.

La Boverie presents 17 works by Bill Viola, including five large-scale spatial installations. Visitors can experience, among others, the rarely shown works “Slowly Turning Narrative” and “Going Forth by Day”, as well as an impressive version of “Fire Woman / Tristan’s Ascension”, presented on an eight-metre-high screen.

For this exhibition, 235 Media produced a reconstruction of the 1992 work “Heaven and Earth” on behalf of Bill Viola Studio and carried out a technical overhaul of the 1992 work “Slowly Turning Narrative”, which 235 Media had previously reconstructed in 2017.

In addition, 235 Media was involved in the technical planning of the exhibition and carried out the complete technical implementation.
