As part of the 2017 Reformation anniversary celebrations, the Deichtorhallen Hamburg are presenting a major exhibition featuring works by Bill Viola. In his works, the American artist explores both personal and universal experiences, thereby addressing his emotional and spiritual engagement with significant metaphysical themes such as life, death, and transformation.

The exhibition features 13 of Viola’s film works, including monumental video installations up to ten meters high that transform the architecture of the Deichtorhallen’s darkened contemporary art hall into a 21st-century cathedral.

235 MEDIA handled the technical planning and implementation and supplied the video and audio equipment. For this exhibition, 235 MEDIA designed and built a 5.6-meter-wide and 10-meter-high screen as a custom structure featuring an extremely slim design.
