BKHS | Challenging Democracy
Helmut Schmidt, the fifth Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, shaped not only his hometown of Hamburg, but also Germany as a whole and international politics through his work as a politician, publicist and forward thinker.
The Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Foundation addresses the central question “Who was Helmut Schmidt?” and, since 2017, has offered insights into Schmidt’s life and work through a range of exhibitions.
Over several months, the new travelling exhibition “Challenging Democracy” takes a closer look at Schmidt’s multifaceted life and legacy. Particular focus is placed on the topics of internal and external security, energy and the environment, as well as the economy and social affairs. At several interactive stations, visitors can take a position themselves and become part of a democratic understanding of politics.
235 Media was commissioned to create the media production, programming and screen design. This included, among other elements, the development and production of a four-minute animated film as well as the production of several interview films with the exhibition makers.
In addition, 235 Media produced the entire exhibition. This comprised a total of nine modules, equipped with various graphic elements and additional components. 235 Media was responsible for workshop planning, graphic production and exhibit construction.
