East Prussian State Museum | Kant 300.
The special exhibition “Kant 300. A Life in Königsberg” at the East Prussian State Museum in Lüneburg honoured the influential philosopher Immanuel Kant on the occasion of his 300th birthday. The exhibition was on view from 18 April to 13 October 2024 and offered a comprehensive insight into Kant’s life and work in his hometown of Königsberg.
The exhibition focused on unique original objects, some of which were presented to the public for the first time. These included personal items such as Kant’s walking stick, locks of hair, oil paintings and the “Kant Glass” with individual engravings. The exhibits conveyed a vivid image of Kant as a person, beyond his philosophical writings.
The exhibition also served as a preview of the museum’s planned permanent exhibition, which will examine Kant’s philosophy and its relevance today in greater depth. With this special exhibition, the East Prussian State Museum offered a comprehensive and multifaceted view of Immanuel Kant, accessible both to experts and to a broader audience.
