Museum der Baukultur NRW | 380–780 nm.
Colours can create a sense of comfort or aversion, shape memories and influence how spaces are experienced. The exhibition “380–780 nm. Colour in Architecture and the City” at the Museum of Baukultur NRW in Düsseldorf, which took place from 26 May to 28 June 2024, was dedicated to the impact and significance of colour in urban architecture and spatial design.
The exhibition aimed to make visitors aware of the role colour plays in their surroundings and of its influence on perception and the experience of space. It addressed topics such as “right” and “wrong” colour choices, cultural influences on colour preferences, and the significance of colour in climate-conscious construction. Innovative ideas for material selection were presented, promoting ageing and reuse in order to support sustainable architectural solutions.
The office of Dr. Ulrich Hermanns was responsible for the exhibition design. For the exhibition, 235 Media supplied the media technology and media production, and was responsible for programming and installing the media stations.
