The LWL Industrial Museum—Westphalian State Museum of Industrial Culture—is the oldest and largest industrial museum in Germany. From the Ruhr region through the Münsterland to Gernheim on the Weser, visitors to this network of museums can experience the development of the industrial age at eight key locations in German industrial history.

As part of the permanent exhibition on the history of textiles, the TextilWerk Bocholt has been presenting the history of textile entrepreneurs in Westphalia across two floors since October 2016.

235 MEDIA developed an interactive multitouch table with tangibles for the exhibition. Using the multitouch table’s object recognition, playful interactions can be created. This makes it possible to establish a connection between real objects—the tangibles—and digital information. For TextilWerk Bocholt, spools of yarn in various colors were transformed into tangibles, with each color representing a different theme. As soon as a tangible is placed on the multitouch table, the corresponding content is automatically activated. Rotating the spool-shaped tangible activates additional submenus.

235 MEDIA tangible tables are now available, complete with customizable tangibles, a multitouch monitor, and software.
