LivingROM | Interactive Sample Wall

ROM AG is a Belgian manufacturer of upholstered furniture headquartered in Eupen. The family-owned company was founded in 1961 and operates at four locations with a total of approximately 900 employees. Each year, the company sells over 30,000 sets of fabric or leather upholstered furniture in more than 20 countries. In recent years, ROM AG has specialized in the IT-supported configuration of upholstered furniture and the integration of upholstered furniture with smart-home systems.

For the first “LivingROM” store, 235 MEDIA, in collaboration with ROM AG, created an interactive sample wall that allows customers to configure combinations of sofas, rugs, and side tables according to their own preferences. As soon as one of the approximately 500 fabric samples from the wall is placed on the table, the corresponding fabric groups and recommendations are illuminated on the wall with pixel-perfect precision using projection mapping. The sample wall is also designed to interact bidirectionally with the 3D configuration software developed in-house by ROM AG.
