For the new permanent exhibition
“You Are Part of History”at the Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland , 235 Media realised extensive film content and media scenography for the exhibition. At the centre of the project were two large-format exhibition films, specifically conceived and produced for the spatial staging within the exhibition.

With the film “Panorama of an Immigration Society”, 235 Media created a polyphonic cinematic statement on migration, identity and social change in Germany. People from different generations and backgrounds share personal experiences, hopes and challenges — direct, emotional and deliberately staged from multiple perspectives. The installation was implemented across five large-format monitors, on which life-sized protagonists face the visitors, creating an immediate spatial encounter.

The second central format, “Intergenerational Conversation”, connects the personal memories of the first generation of immigrants with the perspectives of their grandchildren. Through their shared conversation, links emerge between past and present, between individual experience and social change since the 1950s.

235 Media was responsible for the concept, direction, filming and post-production of the films. The cinematic design was specifically aligned with the spatial staging within the exhibition — from visual language and editing to sound design and dramaturgical condensation.

In addition, numerous further media contents and filmic adaptations were created from historical archive material and significant eyewitness accounts — ranging from footage of the post-war period to the present day. Historical film material was dramaturgically restructured and prepared for various media situations within the exhibition.

The result is a multilayered media staging between documentary narration, personal testimony and spatial experience, making history not only accessible, but also tangible on an atmospheric and emotional level.
