The Draiflessen Collection boasts an extensive collection of books and prints, ranking among the most significant Dutch specialized libraries focusing on the 17th and 18th centuries. The collection, comprising approximately 4,000 items, includes many fragile specimens of high antiquarian value; therefore, it is not accessible to every visitor. To still be able to present selected items to a broad audience, 235 Media developed several interactive books.

At first glance, this medium appears to be an ordinary book made of bound paper with blank pages. But just a few moments after opening it, the pages come to life through a combination of camera recognition and projection. Combined with hand-painted pages, this creates a fascinating interplay of digital and analog media with a rich tactile quality.

235 Media created several interactive books that are on permanent display in the archive rooms. Additional books were created for the exhibitions “Seascapes” (November 5, 2020 – May 9, 2021) and “On the Nature of Landscape” (September 6, 2019 – February 16, 2020).
