In October 2020, the Sudeten German Museum opened in the heart of Munich in an impressive building situated on the slope overlooking the Isar River. The building and the exhibition were designed according to the latest standards in museum presentation, with the participation of German and Czech scholars and historians. It is the new centerpiece for commemorating the history, fate, and cultural achievements of the 19 different German-speaking ethnic groups that lived for centuries in the Kingdom of Bohemia and what later became the Czech Republic.

Spanning five levels, the exhibition explores the themes of homeland and faith, economy and culture, nationalism and the nation-state, loss and expulsion, as well as the postwar period and a new beginning—all presented in German, Czech, and English.

The Büro Hermanns consortium from Münster, along with Winkels Interior Design Exhibition and 235 Media, handled the entire project—from the initial exhibition concept through to the turnkey handover.

In addition to approximately 900 exhibits, over 30 media installations conceived and realized by 235 Media paint a vivid picture of a multifaceted culture: two interactive media tables, an 18-monitor video wall, a multivision projection onto a curved, five-meter-wide projection wall, an immersive multimedia environment, a three-dimensional rear-projection installation, a trilingual multimedia museum guide, and numerous interactive video and audio stations.
